‎UYO DIOCESAN MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES UNIT STORMS EKET ON SENSITIZATION

Sunday 13th April, 2026, the Migrants and Refugees Unit of the Catholic Diocese of Uyo were on a sensitization visit to Sunday to St Fabian’s Police Chaplaincy, Eket, where members of the unit engaged parishioners on their mission, vision, core values, and activities.
‎The visit started with Holy Mass Celebrated by the Coordinator, Rev. Fr Emmanuel Umodioh.
‎In his homily, Fr Umodioh lay emphasis on the centrality of God’s mercy as the ultimate fruit of Christ’s Resurrection. Drawing from the readings, he noted that salvation comes through faith in God’s mercy, as seen in Christ’s appearance to His disciples with the message of peace.
‎He concluded by urging parishioners to live merciful lives, affirming that it is through showing mercy that humanity receives salvation.
‎In her speech, the Secretary of the Unit, Mrs Agnes Akpan, highlighted the importance of supporting migrants and refugees by promoting human dignity and fostering compassion within the Church and society.
‎Creating awareness about the unit’s role in advocacy, assistance, and pastoral care for displaced and vulnerable persons, she encouraged parishioners to actively support and collaborate with the initiative.
