UYO DIOCESE SWEARS-IN / INAUGURATES NEW OFFICERS

‎- Leadership in the Church is about services, model your lives after Christ, Bishop Ayah admonishes

‎The Catholic Diocese of Uyo, has today, Monday,13th April 2026, at about 11:40am at the Bishop James Moynagh Pastoral Center, #2 Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo, sworn in the newly appointed/elected officers in the various Organizations and Societies to pilot the affairs of the diocese in the next four years.
‎ Setting the tune for the solemn function, Very. Rev. Fr. Ubon Etim, the Chairman of the Uyo Diocesan Electoral Commission, thanked all the elected officers for first accepting the call to serve the church and for coming out from various parts of the diocese for the swearing-in, a statement of their intent.
‎The Swearing-in was performed by the Local Ordinary of Uyo Diocese, Most. Rev. Dr. John Ebebe Ayah, in the company of the Diocesan Judicial Vicar Very. Rev. Fr. Anthony Ekong and Very. Rev. Fr. Ubon Etim.
‎Admonishing the newly sworn-in officers, His Lordship noted that, leadership in the church is all about services and not for pecuniary benefits, while also advising them to have Christ as their model, “leadership in the church is quite different from that of the secular world, as there’s no salary attached, and demands more of selfless services.” He also tasked them to be accountable and transparent in all their doings.
‎Ayah also appreciated the past leaders in the diocese for their remarkable achievements and dedication, and tasked them to ensure a seamless transition of power.
‎Congratulations to the newly sworn-in and inaugurated officers and best wishes in their discharge of duties.
